Installation

Reliability & Safety you can rely on

  • In dusty areas or where dust can accumulate.
  • Within 50cm of LED lights.
  • In room corners (within 30cm) or apex ceiling peaks (within 50cm).
  • In locations prone to extreme temperatures or high humidity.
  • In kitchens, garages, and laundries (we recommend a Watch
  • Smoke Alarms Heat Alarm for these spaces)
  • Within 40cm of ceiling fans or HVAC systems.

Regular Maintenance

Caring for your Watch Smoke Alarms

Vacuum Cleaning: Use a vacuum with a brush attachment every months to clean the alarm.

  • Wipe Down: Periodically wipe the alarm with a slightly damp cloth (do not open the alarm).
  • Monthly Testing: Press the test button monthly to verify the alarm’s functionality.

Common Issues and Solutions

1. Alarm Activates Without Smoke
This is usually due to dust, insects, or airborne particles entering the chamber. Regular cleaning (see above) will in nearly all cases prevent this. Fix: Use a vacuum with a brush attachment on the lowest setting to clean around the chamber filter. Ensure the alarm is securely in its base, wait 10 seconds, and test.

2. High Humidity Watch Smoke
Alarms are designed in Australia and best-in-class when it comes to working in humid conditions. Very occasionally, on extreme humidity days where there is a temperature drop, this may cause moisture around the alarm, triggering an alert.

Fix: Refresh the environment around your property by opening the windows to allow fresh air in and trapped humidity to dissipate, and follow the guidelines above. Should the alert persist then remove all your smoke alarms and deactivate them by turning them off using the toggle on the back of your smoke alarms. Then reintroduce them one at a time once the environment in your house has refreshed and stabilised.
